Obverse of Finland Official Blister - Isokari Lighthouse 2014
Details The Isokari lighthouse was built on the verdant island in 1833 to light the new fairway through the Finnish side of the Gulf of Bothnia. It was modelled on the Tolbuhin lighthouse of Imperial Russia and the design drawings were approved and finalised by the architect C.L. Engel.

Today, the 181-year-old lighthouse continues to perform its function and guides seafarers − nowadays from the Bothnian Sea to the town of Uusikaupunki.

The coin series includes the Finnish metal circulation coins for 2014. The series is complemented by a jeton struck to commemorate the Isokari lighthouse – the ninth commemorative medal in the “Finnish lighthouses” series. The jeton is designed by Erkki Vainio.
