France 2 euros 2016 - François Mitterrand

Obverse of France 2 euros 2016 - François Mitterrand
Details La Monnaie de Paris dedicates the second French coin commemorative issued in 2016 to the 100th anniversarry since the birth of François Mitterrand. François Maurice Adrien Marie Mitterrand was a French politician who was President of France from 1981 to 1995. He was the longest-serving President of France and, as leader of the Socialist Party, the first figure from the left elected President under the Fifth Republic.

The coin shows the image of François Mitterrand taken during the filming of the documentary "François Mitterrand: Conversations avec un Président". To the right, in the background, the coat of arms of the Mitterrand family. At the bottom of the image the initials of the issuing country "RF" (French Republic) and on the right the mintmarks of the French Mint (Cornucopia) and its director, Yves Sampo (Pentagon with GAMP-YS initials). At the top, in an arched line that fits the outer edge of the core of the coin, appears the legend "Mitterrand".
