France 2 euros 2017 - Breast cancer awareness

Obverse of France 2 euros 2017 - Breast cancer awareness
Details The coin is dedicated to the 25 years of Breast cancer awareness. Breast cancer awareness is an effort to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of breast cancer through education on symptoms and treatment.

The pink ribbon is the most prominent symbol of breast cancer awareness, and in many countries the month of October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The origin of this symbol comes in 1992, linked to Alexandra Penney and Evelyn Lauder. Alexandra was the editor of a women's magazine, working on the annual Breast Cancer Awareness. Evelyn Lauder was Vice President of Estée Lauder and had been invited to attend this party as guest editor. Both thought to make ties and that these were distributed by the cosmetic companies to get to promote the prevention of breast cancer.

The coin comes in three forms: in typical rolls or cartridges of 25 coins, in a purse type blister in BU quality and in a case with the piece in Proof quality. In these last two the ribbon is colored. The motif represents the bust of a woman symbolically protected by a hand and the ribbon.
