Details The Secession Building illustrates the birth of art nouveau in Austria. The building symbolises the birth of a new age and represents a bridge to a new monetary era.

It was built in 1898 by Joseph Maria Olbrich, in the Jugendstil style as a showcase for the Secession movement's artists. The building was damaged by bombs during World War II and set on fire by the retreating German army.
