The coin marks the 100th anniversarry since the death of Auguste Rodin. François Auguste René Rodin was a French sculptor, generally considered the progenitor of modern sculpture. He was schooled traditionally, took a craftsman-like approach to his work, and desired academic recognition, although he was never accepted into Paris's foremost school of art.
The center of the coin depicts the forehead of Auguste Rodin and the forehead of The Thinking Man, his most famous work. Above, the "RF" (Republique Francaise), with the right symbol of the brand director Yves Sampo (a pentagon with AGMP - Atelier de Gravure de la Monnaie de Paris et Pessac - and his initials YS), and left the cornucopia, symbol of the Paris Mint; on the right marked "A. Rodin 1917-2017". On the outer edge 12 five-pointed stars representing the European Union.Author: |
