Details Riga was always a venue for cultural events on an international scale, but in 2014 it became the cultural epicentre of Europe. During its year as European Capital of Culture, hundreds of special events took place, with more than 12,000 participants from almost one hundred various cultural institutions: national, local and non-governmental.
