The official Blister of Latvia contains a full set of euro coins (1 to 50 cents,1 and 2 euro coins) and a commemorative 2 euro coin dedicated to the Black stork protection plan.
The black stork is a large wading bird in the stork family Ciconiidae. It is a widespread, but uncommon, species that breeds in the warmer parts of Europe (predominantly in central and eastern regions), across temperate Asia and Southern Africa. Latest research data suggest that the population of Black Storks in Latvia is currently dangerously low.
The folk maiden is depicted on the national side of the Latvian one-euro and two-euro coins, whereas the 50-, 20- and 10-euro cent coins feature the great coat of arms of Latvia and the 5-, 2- and 1-euro-cent coins the small coat of arms of Latvia. |
