The year of issue, 2006, appears below the effigies, flanked by the letter ‘S’ and the mintmark. The word ‘LËTZEBUERG’ appears above the effigies. The 12 stars of the European Union are shown in the outer ring of the coin. Issue date: January 11, 2006
