Details The coin is dedicated to the 150 years of the birth of Raúl Brandão. Raul Germano Brandão was a military journalist and Portuguese writer, famous for the realism of his descriptions and the lyricism of language. His main works include The farce (1903), Poor people (1906), Humus (1917, considered his masterpiece), Or poor to ask (1931) and Memories (1933).

The coin shows an image of Raúl Brandao, the year of his birth, "1817", the year of its 150th anniversary and year of issue of the currency "2017". In the lower part the name of the issuing country "Portugal" appears and in the upper part the name of the designer of the coin and the mint mark "INCM".
