Details The coin is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Ľudovít Štúr (1815-1856). It depicts the face of Ľudovít Štúr and on the left side in a semi-circle the name "Ľudovít Štúr" and above the date "1815-1856". On the right side in a semi-circle the name of the country "SLOVENSKO" flanked by mintmarks.

Ľudovít Štúr, known in his time as the Ludevít Velislav Štúr (Uhrovec, October 28, 1815 - Modra, 12 January 1856), was a linguist, poet, journalist, professor and philosopher. He codified the spoken Slovak language and organized volunteers during the Slovak uprising of 1848 against the Kingdom of Hungary. He was a member of the Diet of the Kingdom of Hungary.
